At the beginning of the campaign (related in this archive), supplies were being flown from India, across Burma, and into the interior of China. This threw a tremendous strain on the air force which attempted to sustain the supply flow until a sea and land route could be re-established. With the Japanese controlling all of the seaports of China, as well as the whole of French Indo-China, Thailand, and Burma, our Chinese Allies were sealed off by land and sea. The enormous tonnage of supplies that were required of the American and British Allies in order to keep China in the war had to be transported along vast distances over sea, land, and air. The purpose of this Allied offensive was to regain control of the land routes across Burma so that supplies could be transported to China. Late in February 1944, the first phase of the Allied Operation for the reconquest of Burma began. You can already see from those initial photos from last night that he misses being able to hug his fans 🥺 Please be safe, Louis, and I know it will be hard for you but you need to keep the social distance. I hope the Louies are feeling the intoxication of this day - it’s a collective feeling and I do hope the good wishes all reach Louis somehow, that he feels/knows how many people want the best for him and who want him to do what he loves. The respect and care he shows his fans should be reciprocated in the ways his fans can, and that means being there to support him and his solo music. It’s worth it for him to be happy and travelling the world and performing to crowds who I hope prove they are ultimately there for him, solo artist Louis Tomlinson. I will be watching footage and waiting for my turn and it will be a glorious feeling even though I have to wait so long to see him in person. I’m honestly emotional for him and it’s a heady feeling to care this much about someone I have never met. It’s here! It’s actually here and it’s starting soon and I just am so happy for Louis! I am ecstatic for him to finally be able to do what he loves.
